Investigations to Whitfield Reservoir identified structural issues with the overflow apron and masonry channel, increasing the risk of over spilling. We removed and replaced the stone reservoir spillway. Sheet piles were installed creating a dry working area and enabling the safe removal of the existing spillway and construction of the new spillway. The new spillway was constructed using shuttering and form work with steel reinforcement installed prior to the concrete pouring. A new section of pipe from the new spillway was installed to the existing chamber and a new base constructed to the chamber as this had deteriorated beyond repair. To gain access to the site dry stone wall sections had to be taken down. Upon completion the walls were reinstated to their original condition.
