Helping Burnhope Primary School

A little while back, we had the privilege of partnering with Burnhope Primary School to kickstart their gardening club. Our team delivered raised planters, spruced up their pathways, and carried out some much-needed drainage repairs. With any spare materials, we also crafted charming bug hotels to enrich the children’s learning experience.

At Team Seymour, we’re driven by our passion to deliver beyond construction. We strive to leave a lasting and positive impact in the areas we work. Right now, we’re thrilled to be working on the Durham Bus Station project on behalf of Durham County Council whilst completing many social value activities within the area.

Take a look at these pictures from our visit to Burnhope Primary School and the impressive vegetables harvested from their gardening club which were used within school lunches this week!

We’re thrilled to have played a part in getting the school gardening club off the ground, leading to numerous positive outcomes for our children, including:

Greater consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables
Enhanced appreciation for and attitudes towards healthy foods
Increased knowledge in science
Strengthened social skills
A more profound sense of environmental awareness and respect for nature.

Social value goes beyond ‘what can be delivered for free’; it’s about making a significant impact. Hearing about the children enjoying their home grown produce and all they’ve learned is a testament to this! A huge well done to the Burnhope School Gardening Club!
