Our Southfield CSO team was proud to deliver social value improvements at Pelton School, located right next to our project site where we are carrying out works for Avove on behalf of NWG. The transformation of this outdoor space was completed just in time to welcome pupils back after half term.
The project, led by Avove, centred on enhancing the garden area to create a safer, more welcoming space for outdoor learning and play, designed by the pupils themselves.
Working alongside Avove, NWG and partners, our team supported with:
• Excavation and levelling of the garden area
• Removal of excess soil using dumpers
• Installation of approximately 30 metres of timber edging
• Trenching and installation of Hydro Rock to improve drainage

The garden was officially opened by William Bessa Simons, Head of Capital Delivery and Managing Director of the Living Water Enterprise Framework, alongside members of the Southfield team.
Following the opening, pupils in Year 1 and Year 2 took part in a STEM and planting day, led by Neville Maddison, Customer Experience Manager at Avove, supported by our Head of Strategic Partnerships, Lisa Todd. The session introduced civil engineering, explained the project and garden and explored the benefits of planting and growing vegetables, ending with a hands on planting activity.
The first Living Water Enterprise AMP08 scheme to reach site, setting the standard and delivering a lasting, positive impact on the local community. A great achievement by Avove and everyone involved from start to finish.
