A new 400m access road was created and existing 400m long section widened to provide improved access from Enterprise Way to Tyne Dock Enterprise Park, replacing the existing haul road and meeting current and future needs.
The road was constructed upon made ground of port activities spanning over 100 years and required this to be addressed safely and responsibly. In addition to the new road, a new footpath and cycle lane were created, and new drainage and street lighting installed. 600m of existing cables were disconnected and relocated to suit the new lighting layout. Throughout the duration of the project access was maintained to the existing units closing a single lane at a time and utilising traffic management techniques.
