Ingenium Parc is a 40 acre site that had challenging ground conditions but is being developed for future industrial use. Flood alleviation methods were utilised on the site including the construction a new attenuation basin and the use of nature based solutions including new drainage ditches and swales. Additionally we also undertook the installation of surface water and foul water drainage. Surface water will be retained within the attenuation basin reducing pressure upon the drainage system during times of high water flows. The system has been designed to accommodate a 1 in 100 annual rainfall event and has a 40% climate change capacity. A section of the surface water pipe was installed using directional drilling as it traversed an existing nature reserve. This removed the need for open trenches, protecting valuable habitat.
