HS2 Critical Infrastructure Delivery, Hartlepool

Contract length

This previous oil rig fabrication site required infrastructure alterations and adaptations to enable the development of a new HS2 Pre Cast Concrete facility which included a carousel shed, batching plant, reinforcement shed and pre-storage areas. Existing concrete structures were broken out and removed, bulk earthworks undertaken and a piling mat installed. The piling mat re-used existing sub-base which provided a saving of £9,000. 330no. steel driven piles have been installed within the existing building and a further 700no. CFA piles installed to the external areas. More than 45,000 tonnes of steel reinforcement has been installed to enable the construction of new concrete slabs capable of supporting equipment and machinery. Site wide foul and surface water drainage have been installed along with a crate attenuation system which has a storage capacity of 300m3. A new access ramp has been constructed to provide access into the batching plant and new roads constructed around the site using tarmac surfacing.
