We were appointed to undertake the drainage and kerb drainage work for the £75m upgrade of the Silverlink junction in North Tyneside. This multi award winning partnership led to Seymour being crowned Sisk Lagan’s ‘Supply chain Partner of the Year Civil’s UK’ 2017.
Our key areas of work involved main highway and land drainage, trenchless crossing undertaken by micro tunnelling techniques, sinking of 3 no. shafts with the deepest being 13.5m and the installation of combined kerb drainage.
Working to Highways England’s ‘Raising the Bar’ Health and Safety on this project was of the very highest standard which was essential given the nature of the project and the risks involved. Seymour plant and machinery was adapted to mater the challenges that the project commanded and several of our operatives were rewarded for their Health and Safety practices on several occasions.
Collaboration on this project was key. To ensure traffic flows and that the project progressed to programme collaboration meetings were attended by the entire project team. Buildability issues were addressed at design stage during early contractor involvement, enabling the provision of budget costs leading to optimised solutions such as trenchless workings.
