Project Description:
This prestigious scheme to enhance the urban landscape involved the reconstruction of the carriageway, footpaths and paved pedestrian areas in the town centre of South Shields. The major items were:

Civil Engineering Works – reconstruction of existing carriageway, paved areas and footpaths with new and re-used paving materials to vehicular standards; drainage cable ducting; formation of foundations for art work, electrical installation and landscape. The refurbishment of a railway bridge including cleaning, painting and the installation of a feature arch attached to the existing structure.

Electrical Engineering Works – supply and installation of lighting columns and high level lights attached to buildings; feature lighting to pavements and art works.

Landscape Work – removal of existing trees; supply and installation of street furniture; removal, cleaning, painting and replacement of existing street furniture; supply and installation of semi mature trees.

Art Works - installation of artwork paving squares.
