Project Description:
This urban regeneration scheme is in the historic setting of the upper Saltburn promenade. The works involved the hard and soft landscaping on the approaches to the Saltburn cliff lift and included: the construction of a ramp and stairs to improve access to the cliff lift and upper promenade viewing area; the replacement of railings and paved surfaces, erection of railings, paving, retaining walls, and installation of seats. Some large fossil reproductions were set into the pavement as a focal feature. The cliffs are very steep and precautions had to be put in place to minimise the risk of overtopping the edge of the works.
The surrounding streets, roads and pathways all had to be kept open for contractor/public vehicular and pedestrian traffic for the duration of the works. Careful traffic management was installed to control traffic and pedestrian movement.
