The 500m of 750mm diameter concrete pipe running from the city centre to the sewage treatment works required construction through busy roads in a congested city centre. Close contact was kept with the utility services, highway authority, bus operators, NCP representatives, shopping centre managers and managers of other amenities passed during the construction phase.
Traffic management was crucial in ensuring smooth traffic flow around the works during the construction period.
This urban regeneration scheme is in the historic setting of the upper Saltburn promenade.
