Project Description:
This project was carried out at the busy Hart Lane / Wiltshire Way / Tarnston Road junction in Hartlepool. Hart Lane is a busy distributor road with commuter traffic leading North West to the A19 and South East into the town centre. It has a speed limit of 50mph whilst Wiltshire Way and Tarnston Road are bus routes on residential roads with 30mph speed limits. Particular attention was given to traffic management in view of the potential disruption to road users and residents in the area.

The works comprised of the construction of a traffic signal controlled junction with a new length of highway, a new car parking area to improve the road network off Hart Lane, installation of signs, footpath construction and all paving works. The presence of schools nearby required careful fencing to segregate the works from the pedestrian public.
